The Long-Haired DachShund is similar to the smooth haired variety, being almost entirely differentiated by its soft, straight coat. It has short legs and is well muscled, with very expressive eyes. The breed was originally bred for hunting.
The Dachshund is an intelligent breed, that is generally considered to be easy to train. They are loyal dogs when well trained, and they are energetic and playful. They enjoying chasing small animals, which can be a problem in some situations, but other then that they are generally friendly.
