The Curly Coated Retriever is a breed of dog that originated in England. It was bred to aid in bird hunting. It is a fairly tall breed of dog that is distinguished by its tight, curly coat. While the retriever has a life expectancy of up to twelve years it does suffer from being prone to a number of diseases, including cataracts.
The Curly Coated Retriever is an energetic dog that needs enough exercise in order to be happy. However, regardless of the retrievers aloofness around strangers, it makes a very good family pet as it is very loyal and friendly towards those people that it is familiar with.
