In most ways the Smooth Coat Chihuahua is the same as the long coat variety, but it is noticeable for its shorter coat, which can be either of a low density, or quite thick. While it suffers from propensity for a number of hereditary diseases, the Chihuahua can often live for up to fifteen years.
Chihuahua's are a friendly pet, who will happily adapt to a number of environments. However, they are prone to the cold, and may need extra care in such situations. They develop a strong loyalty towards their owner.
