The Cairn Terrier originated in Scotland as a hunting terrier. They are fairly small and have two layers of coat: a soft undercoat and a harder overcoat, which is fairly resistant to the weather. The biggest health problem for the terriers if often allergies.
The Cairn Terrier is a stubborn breed of dog, but they can be trained with consistent effort. They are also intelligent and energetic, liking a large amount of exercise. They are very loyal to their owners and people whom they feel an attachment to.
