The Bouvier Des Fladres originated in Flanders and is a fairly heavy breed of dog. It has a thick double coat, which keeps it warm and has been used for a huge variety of jobs, including as a police dog and to herd cattle. The breed suffers from a number of health problems and generally does not live a long life.
The Bouveir Des Flandres are agile and they get on well with humans, who they consider to be their pack and, consequently, do not like to be seperated from. In this way they make a suitable family pet for those with the time to pay attention to them.
