The Borzoi is one of the large dog breeds, with males often standing at least 70cm high, and often higher. They have a medium length, silky coat and have a reasonable life expectancy, although they do suffer from a predisposition towards heart problems.
The breed is intelligent and friendly, although they are sometimes less friendly around children if not introduced to them as a puppy. They are not violent, or territorial, but, as hunting dogs, they may chase creatures or humans that run away from them.
