The Bernese Mountain Dog is a breed of dog which originated in Switzerland. Bred as cattle dogs, they love the outdoors and can be very energetic. They are friendly and loyal dogs who are fairly easy to train and thus make good family pets.
The breed has fairly soft fur, can easily stand at 60cm high and are a popular, large dog breed. They do suffer from a number of hereditary diseases, including cancer, and this can be a major health problem for the breed of dog.
