Beagles are fairly small dogs that was bred for hunting. They have large ears and a medium length coat. Beagles generally have medium length fur and short legs. They are a generally healthy, although they do occasionally suffer from problems due to their large ears blocking, or trapping, air.
Beagles have an extremely sharp sense of smell and are intelligent dogs. They are stubborn, and can be hard to train, but they are friendly dogs that enjoy socialisation and are energetic and enjoy exercise.
